Another good day on the road. We had some interesting weather. In a few places it poured down rain for a minute or two and then it would stop for awhile and we would run into it again. Thank goodness it only lasted those couple of minutes each time as it was heavy going. You can see from the clouds that it was an odd day.
There were lots of tolls today - $7 in all. We had one incident where we drove into a work lane. The guys were pretty mad at first but when they saw our licence plate they were more forgiving and moved the cones for us. HP was upset but I thought it was funny (not being the driver, that was easy for me)
Our first stop was in Orono, Maine for Tims's, then lunch at MacD's near Augusta.
Our goal was to reach Haverhill, Mass where HP's friend L is visiting her daughter and family. We arrived at 4pm and checked into Best Western. L's son-in-law B came over and then led us the way to their house.
L and her daughter P made us a lovely supper and there was great conversation all around. We were introduced to their pet birds and the little dog Lola from next door. P & B have a beautiful home which I'm sure they are very proud of. We plan to return for a longer visit tomorrow and perhaps a mini tour of some local attractions.
I'm sure that HP will be glad of a day off from driving. I tried driving this morning but my demons attacked me right away and I couldn't do it. I felt so bad I wanted to cry but there isn't a thing I can do about it. I will have to encourage HP to give up the day as soon as he feels tiredness coming on.
We are both looking forward to a sound sleep tonight and our adventure with friends tomorrow.

wow even Tim's in the States what more could you ask for. You be careful at those mickey d stops they can be dangerous to your health :-)
